Que peindrait Picasso s’il était encore vivant en 2026 ?

C’est la question simple et vertigineuse que s’est posée Léa Vandeveld au moment d’entreprendre cette nouvelle série inédite de 3 œuvres .
Plutôt que d’imiter le maître espagnol ou de reproduire son langage pictural, l’artiste a choisi d’entrer en dialogue avec lui. Une conversation imaginaire où les formes cubistes deviennent un terrain d’exploration contemporaine.
À travers ces figures fragmentées, ces regards dédoublés et ces visages traversés par la lumière et l’ombre, Léa Vandeveld interroge l’être humain d’aujourd’hui : son identité multiple, ses contradictions, sa solitude mais aussi sa capacité à se réinventer.
Le bleu profond, omniprésent dans plusieurs œuvres, évoque autant la réflexion intérieure que la profondeur de l’âme. Les lignes blanches et les contours lumineux créent des passages entre les différentes facettes d’un même être, comme si plusieurs personnalités cohabitaient dans un seul visage.
Cette série n’est ni un hommage nostalgique ni un exercice de style. Elle est une rencontre. Une tentative de poursuivre une conversation interrompue par le temps et d’imaginer comment l’esprit libre, audacieux et visionnaire de Picasso pourrait encore questionner notre époque.
Avec cette démarche, Léa Vandeveld ne cherche pas à répondre définitivement à la question. Elle invite simplement le spectateur à se la poser avec elle.

What would Picasso paint if he were still alive in 2026?

This is the simple and dizzying question that Léa Vandeveld asked herself when she embarked on this new series of three works. Rather than imitating the Spanish master or reproducing his pictorial language, the artist chose to enter into a dialogue with him. An imaginary conversation where cubist forms become a contemporary field of exploration. Through these fragmented figures, these double glances and these faces crossed by light and shadow, Léa Vandeveld questions the human being of today: its multiple identity, its contradictions, its loneliness but also its ability to reinvent itself. The deep blue, omnipresent in several works, evokes both inner reflection and the depth of the soul. The white lines and luminous contours create passages between the different facets of the same being, as if several personalities coexisted in a single face. This series is neither a nostalgic tribute nor an exercise in style. It is an encounter. An attempt to continue a conversation interrupted by time and to imagine how the free, daring and visionary spirit of Picasso could still question our era. With this approach, Léa Vandeveld does not seek to definitively answer the question. She simply invites the viewer to ask herself with her.

GENESIS – Through this work, Léa Vandeveld explores the moment of a symbolic birth.
